Chimerica Express: We Make Drealities Come True
Saturday, March 6, 2010 from 9:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
$50 for members, $60 for non-members
This exciting day trip to Los Angeles with Museum Curator Olivia Luther and Artist Seth Augustine will include round trip transportation between the Center Museum and Los Angeles, a visit to the Chinese American Art Museum and their annual Chinese Lantern Festival, a studio visit with Seth Augustine, and a dinner of traditional Chinese food. All expenses are included in the cost.

Material Matters artists Jennifer Anderson, Matthew Hebert and Paul Henry lead an informal discussion on the process and inspiration behind their current bodies of work. A question and answer session will follow.
Dragon Race 500
Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Studio 2 and Museum Sculpture Court, $5 includes admission to both the Center Museum and the Escondido Children’s Museum
Combining the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival with the American Indianapolis 500, this event will be a playful afternoon of arts, crafts and remote control race car driving! In collaboration with the Escondido Children’s Museum, patrons will decorate theatrical, dragon-inspired puppets that are specially designed to cover remote control cars. The decorated cars will be raced around our Sculpture Court track, and at the end of the day the participants will be able to take their puppets home as keepsakes. Light snacks will be provided at this event.

Docent led tours provide insight into the current exhibition and the opportunity to engage in lively discussion.
TOURS
Museum-trained volunteers offer guided tours of the exhibitions as a way to help develop the visual literacy of Museum patrons, an essential tool for the understanding and appreciation of art. Docent tours of the exhibitions are available for school groups kindergarten-12 and home school groups. Teachers are able to preview all exhibitions with free admission on the first Saturday of every month. Tours for adults are available by appointment.
