Jade Buddha for Universal Peace

Great Green Lawn
After traveling around the world and attracting almost 5 million viisitors, the
Phat Da Buddhist Temple of San Diego is bringing the beautifully crafted Jade
Buddha to make its temporary home on the Great Green Lawn for visitors far and
wide to see. The Jade Buddha, symbolizing Universal Peace, towers 8 feet
high and sits on a 4.5 foot alabaster throne. It weighs over 4 tons and
has been hand carved from a very rare piece of gemstone quality jade. Its
size and beauty make it a "wonder of the world."
Throughout the Jade Buddha's nine day stay, ther will be multiple daily events
consisting of musical performances, meditations, Dharma teachings (including two
in English), and even special celebrations to ring in the Chinese New Year.

Ballet Magnificat! founded in
1986 by Kathy Thibodeaux, is America's premiere Christian ballet company.
Professional companies tour annually throughout the world and have appeared on
the 700 Club and performed with nationally known artists at the Christian Music
Artists Seminar, the Gather and Praise Gathering and the Kennedy Center.
The originally choreographed, "Ruth" opens set against the landscape of
rural Spain in the early 1900's as we learn of the despair and grief of the
American born Naomi and her daughter-in-law, Ruth, due to the death of their
husbands and Naomi's son. Naomi decides to return to her homeland and Ruth
is determined to follow her. At Ellis Island, Ruth is denied entry.
The story unfolds as a relative of Naomi's , Boaz, enters their lives.

Patricia Patterson: “Here and There”

This landmark retrospective exhibition will chronicle the work of locally based and internationally renowned artist Patricia Paterson. The artist’s theatrical installations and sumptuously painted snapshots provide a visual account of the many facets of domestic and outdoor life on Inishmore, one of the Aran Islands located off Ireland’s west coast, and her Southern California home. Themes of hearth and home are central to Patterson’s work. Warmth, vitality and the drama of everyday activities unfold within her bright canvases and sophisticated compositions.

Join fellow residents from around San Diego who are opting off the roads and onto the Sprinter for a fun-filled afternoon to see world renowned violinist, János Négyesy and notable guests present a beautifully orchestrated performance at the Center. A 2-for-1 day pass (valid for Sprinter and Breeze lines) will be offered for those who purchase tickets to the matinee. Breeze buses will await Sprinter passengers and shuttle to and from CCAE, up until half an hour after the show.
