Civic Youth Orchestra

Opera's Greatest Moments

Dr. Nicolas Reveles of the San Diego Opera will host the program, which will feature a cast of five international soloists, a full orchestra and the Center Chorale conducted by Dr. Joe Stanford.

Featured on the program are five opera stars: Priti Gandhi, soprano; Robin Buck, baritone; Kristina Driskill, mezzo soprano; Megan Weston, soprano; and Jorge López-Yáñez, tenor. "FIDES ECCLESIAE” – Faith of the Church
Dramatic Play of St. Pedro Calungsod and St. Kateri Tekakwitha

Fides Ecclesiae (Faith of the Church) is a musical presentation of the lives of St. Kateri Tekakwitha and St. Pedro Calungsod. These two saints were canonized by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI on October 19, 2012 in celebration of the Year of Faith. This musical demonstrates through acting, choreography and singing the saintliness of these two very young saints who lived within the same era (1656-1680) but in different continents. The purpose of the musical is to inspire people, especially the young generation of our time, to the life of holiness as exemplified by St. Kateri and St. Pedro.

The script and lyrics were written by Fr. Robert Victoria based on the biographies of the two saints and the music was composed by Fr. Adrian San Juan.
